Nancy Lou Canyon’s poems, short stories, and personal essays have been published in, Obliquity: Speculitive Fiction of the Pacific Northwest, Maril Crabtree's Sacred Water Anthology, Bylines Writer's Calendar 2005, Her Mark Desktop Calendar, Wicked Alice Bainbridge Island Arts and Humanities Council’s, Poetry Corners, Poesy, Treewalk: A Collection of Nature Poems, Shoreline Community College’s Spindrift, The Blue Star Gazette, Poulsbohemian Anthology, and Poets Against the War website. Her essays on healing have been published in Higher Source Magazine and Out of Silence newsletter. Her acrylic paintings and multi-media shadow boxes have been shown in Seattle, Hawaii, Bainbridge Island, Bellingham, and Spokane and have been published in magazines and calendars. She has two prints available-- Healing Angel and Spirit Coming In. Her painting, Turning Knot is featured as cover art for Poet Kelli Russell Agodon's book, Small Knots. Ms. Canyon began writing and painting as a child. In 1997, she studied with Natalie Goldberg in Taos, New Mexico. She uses Natalie’s writing techniques to generate her stories. Bob Ray and Jack Remick, instructors at the UW, taught Nancy to plot a novel in a year long Certificate Program in Fiction Writing. She has completed three novels, Celia's Heaven, Stealing Time, and Whispering, Idaho. She has a MFA in Creative Writing from Pacific Lutheran University. She is a member of Pacific Northwest Writers Association.

Ms. Canyon lives between two homes, one on the Kitsap Penninsula and one in Bellingham, Washington. She teaches art and writing.
