Weekly Writing Practice at Creativitea, Fairhaven

This weekly writing group meets at Creativitea every Tuesday at 1 P.M. We write fast by the clock,then read what we've written. Using short sentences, chaining, long sentence release and dialogue to begin writing and to keep writing, we develop voice, generate story, and free our minds to go into unexplored territory as well as old areas of experience. Please bring a notebook and pen, and come early if you want to purchase tea or coffee. We begin writing right at 1:00 P.M. every Tuesday. Free.

Writing Over a Story Template

This weekly writing group meets at Harris Square, 7 P.M. Mondays, beginning Nov 29 for four weeks. We will write three stories and polish one to read on the last night. Fast writing will be the means of generating our stories--the published story that we will pattern will be our inspiration. All writers use structures--we will look more closely at how a short story or essay works. Please bring a notebook and pen, and come ready to have some fun. $10-$12/class--limited to eight people. Beginning Canyon Writing

Tell your story; develop your voice; have fun! This weekly writing group meets at Harris Square, 7 P.M. Wednesdays. If you want to explore memoir, try out some fiction, or justlearn to get your thoughts down on paper. Fast writing and reading is a safe environment will provide you with the tools to get going. Free your mind to explore the canyon and all its twists and turns. Please bring a notebook and pen, and come ready to explore. $10-$12/class--limited to eight people. Sign up now. Village Books Writers University/Scene Structure and Function

If you have ever wanted to write a short story, novel, or memoir but didn't known where to start, this class is for you? In this class we'll use the scene as a building block for story. We'll learn the structure of scene and how summary, dialogue, description, and interior monologue work to develop dramatic tension. We'll work with short writing exercises to develop scenes. Bring pen and paper and join the fun.

Critique Group

Critique your stories, novel chapters, poems, and personal essay. Careful and considerate feedback. Group meets once a month. Come and connect with other writers. Join the fun in a safe environment. Price: $10-$12. Call: 676-6823

Writing Marathon

When: To be arranged.
Time: 12 pm to 5 pm
Price: $30
This extended writing practice is meant to bring us all more deeply into the writing--both our words and our voices and our stories. As Natalie Goldberg says: "Go for the jugular." And that is what we will do as we write and read. Silence will be held between each timed section. Bring potluck dish. We'll discuss our writing afterwards,as we eat.
