The first two weekends in October each year are dedicated to visiting local artists in their studios. Talented artists offer greeting cards, glass, jewelry, pottery, paintings, wood carving, and tooled leather that are a must see. If you are an art collector, this is a perfect opportunity to talk to the artists and select one or more new pieces for your home.
The hours of the Whatcom Artist Studio Tour are 10-5 Saturday & Sunday, Oct 2,3 and 9,10. My studio is located in the Morgan Block Studios and Galleries above Good Earth Pottery and Artwood in Historic Fairhaven. Be courageous and take the flight of stairs to the second floor at 1000 Harris #6. You will be rewarded at the top by all the creativity, so many paintings hanging on my walls; and a new line of greeting cards: whimsical characters: cats, birds, a bear, owl, and horse. Additionally, I have many other cards printed from my paintings, all suitable for framing,
The new whimsical card line are collaged from decorated paper that I made. They are playful and very different from my paintings of lily pads and flowers. Here are a couple of images that may inspire you to climb those stairs to the second floor and bring a smile to your face.
Additionally, you will find a selection of hand-made books and my novel, Celia’s Heaven, and book of poetry, Saltwater. Yes, I’m not only a visual artist, I’m an author too. As a writing instructor for Chuckanut Writers and writing coach for The Narrative Project, I keep busy working on novels and memoirs and encouraging others to do the same. My current memoir, STRUCK, is being shopped around. The sequel to Celia’s Heaven, Vinegar Valley, is in the works.
I hope you will come out to the Morgan Block Studios and Galleries during the first two weekend of October for the Whatcom Artist Studio Tour. There are several other artists in the building, including my husband, Ron Pattern, an amazing painter of nature, to visit as well.
