Drawing and Journaling Techniques for Your Daily Journal
Keeping the Illustrated Journal Class begins March 9th, at 6PM. To sign up, please go to Whatcom Community College at Whatcom Community Ed Classes. The only requirement to take this class is a desire to describe your days in story, poetry, and image. Please bring a pen or pencil and a multi-media blank journal (5×5 or 6×9 or so) to class for practice. No formal art or writing experience needed.
Keeping the Illustrated Journal supply list: multi-media blank journal, ink pen (indelible or water-based,) and a water-color box. I like to use an artist pen called Rotring. Rotring pens uses water-based ink cartridges, which are inexpensive. Water-based means that I can brush over a drawing with water to produce gray tones, shadows, or background. But if you want to add color, a travel watercolor box with a tiny brush or colored pencils are necessary. Additionally, I carry a graphite pencil and eraser, completing the artist kit for my Illustrated Journal. All items are available at your local art store or on-line.
Keeping the Illustrated Journal runs for four weeks. Each week I will introduce a new drawing techniques: continuous line drawing, shading, perspective, and how to see like an artist. I will demonstrate a technique, then you will have time to try it out. If you are interested in spending two hours a week for four weeks with me, please call Whatcom Community College Community Ed.
